Iranian intelligence services are reportedly setting their sights on US military installations in Germany, according to a report from the German business publication WirtschaftsWoche, which cited unnamed Western intelligence officials describing concern over potential covert activity tied to the broader conflict involving Iran.
The bases named in the report, Ramstein and Spangdahlem, sit at the center of US and NATO air operations in Europe. Ramstein serves as the headquarters for United States Air Forces in Europe and Africa as well as NATO's Allied Air Command, while both bases are used more broadly by NATO air forces operating across the continent.
A Warning That Came Earlier
According to the report, Israel had already flagged a potential threat to US and German partners roughly three weeks before the story became public, with concern centered specifically on bases that support American military operations and logistics connected to the conflict with Iran. That timeline suggests German and American officials have had some advance notice to prepare rather than reacting to a sudden, unexpected development.
A separate source told Reuters that German authorities have been monitoring heightened Iranian activity for several weeks, pointing to a sustained period of elevated vigilance rather than a single isolated warning.
